This morning we went on an architecture boat tour of chicago along the river. The guide was funny, informative and incredibly talkative - he didn't stop speaking for the whole 2 hour tour apart from one 5 minute break! I think that's what they like here.
Anyway, the tour was brilliant, and made us appreciate just how much varied and beautiful architecture was around. It's not something either of us know much about, but even we could tell it was amazing. Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper after all.
After the tour we had lunch in the port, then walked along the front and then across to the main streets. We spent the whole afternoon walking, seeing Millenium Park and its Buckingham fountain (which sings at the hour but the accompanying water show isn't impressive), then over to the Cloud Gate, or the Bean, a large mirrored... bean. It's weird but cool! There are loads of little parks around Millenium park with bits of flowers or random sculptures, probably as the Art museum is there too.
We walked back up the mile and were doing some shopping when we got an email from the insurance company telling us we needed to curtail our trip and come home, which meant we spent another night on the phone...
