We woke in La Jolla and it was a beautiful sunny morning, so we headed to long beach, where all the locals in San Diego go to play volleyball! We then drove up to the La Jolla cove, where we walked along the front first to see the seals and sea lions. There were loads of them all over the beach, making so much noise! They were just sunbathing and none seem bothered by humans, even though their beach was quite close to the path. The pupping season was just about over but we still managed to spot a couple of smaller ones. It was amazing.
We then walked along the front back to see the cove. It was beautiful, although full of tourists sunbathing. We were driving up North so couldn't stay to sunbathe anyway.
After that we drove up the coast to Carlsbad, a very pretty seaside town north of San Diego. We had wanted to get a tour around the flower gardens, but we had just about missed them and most of the flowers had died off! We did see a few nice ones, but decided instead to go for a walk around the town. We had a really nice late lunch at a Mexican restaurant then treated ourselves to a frapuccino as we walked round in the heat. We then drove to a shopping centre just outside of town where we bought some much needed new clothes and an order from Olivia!
We then drove up to Palm Springs, enjoying the view of the beautiful sunset in the heat, despite all the wind turbines!
