So today was the first day of Contiki... We left LA and made our way to San Diego. First stop was Balboa park...here is a super awesome history lesson for you..... The land for the park was purchased or whatever in 1862.... But they only started making it look cool in 1892 by adding trees and flowers and stuff....
The park was then due to become host of the first world fair in 1915 which also has something to do with the panama canal being completed but whatever...anyway so they made a whole heap of buildings for that... The buildings are spanish renaissance style and they are super super amazing! Like whoa amazing!
The park has six museums and also the ballet company and theatre company also.... It also has a giant massive huge massive organ which can be heard all the way downtown. Balboa park Is right next to the zoo.
So theres some fun facts!!
Aaahh yah so we went there... Then we went on a harbor cruise to scope out all the buildings etc... San Diego is also a big massive navy/marines place...which means there are lots of hot sailors. All the training is done here and there's a museum and stuff where you go on a navy boat that has gold anchors... Apparently that means something but I wasn't listening. So that was pretty awesome kinda. Ok well it was a baby bit boring but there were cool boats!
I had a massive sandwich for lunch which was YUM... Cost about four bucks for that and my side of pasta and about 10 liters of coke.... I saw a nut job walkin across the street yelling "oh my headache" she continued to scream that out all the way up the block. There was also a chick talking to herself in the mall... She was havin a great time!!! So SD has a lot of nut jobs and quite a few homeless people. So omg American meals are just too HUGE! Like it's ridiculously over the top huge! the leftovers can go to the homeless people and would feed them forever! After lunch we went to old town... Which is the where the first Spanish settlement in CA was apparently... There are margaritas everywhere! But I did not have one as I forgot.
Then I went to the hotel and got hooked up with my roomie... She is 22, Japanese and barely speaks english so that's pretty interesting.
She is super nice tho. She sleeps A LOT! Like has 8 hours plus about 5 naps during the day.. She like just lies down and has a 10 min nap or like an hour. I'm jealous.
We went to Mexican for dinner so that was pretty good!!! Massive meal of course! We then went to double deuces which is a bar equipt with a mechanical bull. People here rock at it. I think they all have them at home.
We then went to a club called whiskey girls which was awesome... Stayed there until last drinks which was 1:30am.. Caught a taxi back to our room... We didn't actually remember where that was... We ended up finally finding the paper with all our hotel addresses... But the drunken baboon I was with read out the address for the AZ hotel...
After ten tonne of confusion and being accused by the driver of being stoned because we were laughing about not knowing the address... We made it back in time to catch about 5 hours sleep.
