Yesterday we finished our Life In The Spirit Seminar and it was an emotional event both for us and everyone involved from Juiz de Fora.Today it is kind of a sad day because we are returning to the mission and we will miss our new found friends in Christ. We are excited though because tomorrow is a day of sight seeing, shopping (Please pray for Jimmie as Emma has a shopping bug and we were going to shop some today but did not have time so I guess she will get to shop tomorrow) and dinner at a Brazilian steak house. Then on Wed we start preparing for ministry Wed night at the church at the mission. Thursday we will go to Rio Bonito Methodist to minister there. On Wed and Thursday we will also prepare for another LISS at Pilares Methodist Church. Please pray for fresh manna for our talks in Pilares. At Pilares we will get to celebrate John Wesley Day which is a day of celebration for the churches here in Brazil.
After breakfast today we packed to leave the hotel and the policeman on the street decided to hassle Celio because he parked in the street while we loaded the bus (I am not sure where he expected the bus to stop to get our luggage).Celio had to move the bus and we rode around town waiting for Betty and Claudio who were paying the bill. They decided to walk to the church because it was probably best not to go back down the same street so the policeman would not get another chance to pick on the bus load of Americans. It was not all bad we were able to see more of the city as we rode around waiting for them.
We had three of our interpreters go with us to the nursing home. The church is building a Christian nursing home because in Brazil the nursing homes are not a place you really want to be.The church wants to have a home where people can go to spend the last years of their life and be ministered to and loved by other Christians. It was a very nice nursing home that they hope to have fully completed in about a year. We were blessed to meet Mary Lucy - Rick Bonfim's mother-in-law there. They also have a missionary camp that houses probably 150 people. One of our interpreters had stayed there during the Carnival in Rio last year because during Carnival many Christians leave town. They leave because of all of the Macumba and just general debauchery in the city of Rio then. We prayed for the Nursing home (and of course I anointed all of the doorways). It was a very nice trip to the Nursing home because we were able to see many homes in the countryside near the city.Juiz de Fora is a beautiful city - Much cleaner than most of Rio.We stopped at the Catholic overlook on the way back to the church for lunch. It was a marvelous view of the city - I did not realize how large the city was until we were at the overlook.
We had another nice lunch at the church before we left - I have included a picture on the Blog.I really enjoyed the long trip back.I took over the back row of the bus.I pray and meditated on what God was teaching me.I may have even dozed of a little bit.I did enjoy the quiet time because I have had a wonderful time this weekend and God has used me in ways I would not have dreamed.I am blessed to be so fortunate to be here and to have all of you praying and fasting for us.
We stopped and a rest stop and Then Emma and Betty stopped at a roadside stand to purchase a hand made rug. After we unloaded at the mission we went to Habib's for dinner.Habib's is a Middle Eastern restaurant chain in Brazil. The food was very different but it was good.We then returned to the mission to be debriefed from the weekend and to have a worship session and then retire for the evening to rest for the busy week ahead.God Bless you and thank you for your prayers.Love Bobby.
