We got up at 8.00 for a half day of trekking. We trekked through the paddy fields of rice and garlic, waterfalls and the bamboo jungle. It took us 3.5 hours and we still found it hard work, especially in the heat. The guide made Lou a walking stick out of bamboo with his own knife, she was grateful of it, as it was steep and slippery. We stoped for lunch at a village, the guide got Chicken, Pork, Noddles and Rice out of his bag and put it in front of us! Umm delicious (not)
At 1.00 we were off elephant riding, where we were told when we booked it, that we could have seats but once we got there oh no, not seats, apparently it is more fun riding bareback. We were both scared, cliff nearly fell of twice. After 40 minutes or so Lou had had enough, as the tour guide was walking around, and was not at all interested in our safety, just let the elephant wander around. Saftety procedures do not apply here. As the elephant was kneeling down to let us off, Clumsy Lou fell off with a thud! She didnt hurt herself though. We walked down to the river where we played and bathed the elephants it was an amazing experience something we both will never forget. We cant walk too well at the moment though. Going wight water rafting tommorrow, another early start.
