Captains blog, stardate 2008.11. We had another busy day again yesterday when we went white water rafting. The first half of the day was on quite calm water but the afternoon got pretty rough going down some of the bigger rapids. We got up at 8.00 for a half day of trekking. We trekked through the paddy fields of rice and garlic, waterfalls and the bamboo jungle. It took us 3.5 hours and we still found it hard work, especially in the heat. The guide made Lou a walking stick out of bamboo with his own knife, she was grateful of it, as it was steep and slippery. We arrived in Pai last night after the hardest journey either of us have ever done. We started at 4:30pm getting picked up from our guest houuse in Luang Prabang in Laos and we finally set off from the bus station at 6:30pm. We were on dirt tracks through the mountains until 8am the next morning when we arrived at the Thai border (we were kept awake all night by the drivers music). Arrived At Luang Prabang after a very bumpy and scary bus ride. The roads were falling apart over the edge of the cliffs, at one point Lou was afraid to look out the window. But we made it in one piece. Visited Kuang Si waterfall yeasterday, it was a long journey up to the top of the waterfall but after alot of heaving and struggling, it was worth the view. We then had to wade through water as we walked around the waterfall.

We have been a bit lazy with the blogs for the past couple of days, or too drunk to updaye it! We have spent a couple of days in Vang Vieng in Laos doing tubing. Basically we have been getting dropped off up the river and then floating down on a big rubber ring. There are loads of bars on the way down doing cheap buckets of Lao whisky and coke so by the time we have got back at night we haven't been in a fit state to go on the internet.
