We went to Ayers Rock and we both started climbing it but Lou only made it about 50m up then she had a panic attack and went back down. She slipped and ripped her jeans so she has a big hole in her bum now. I made it to the top, its a really hard climb, higher than the Eiffel Tower and 3.6km long. We did the 10km base walk after and then went to watch the sunset over Ayers Rock. It will probably be the last time I climb it because the local Aboriginies who own the site are trying to put a stop to people climbing their sacred site.
It was down to freezing at night and we were in the tent so we didn't get much sleep because we were too cold. We went to see sunrise over Ayers Rock the next day and then to The Olgas. We saw 5 wild camels on the drive over which was really good, we didn't expect to see any. The only things we haven't seen that we want to see are snakes and a wombat. We drove to Kings Canyon on the way back to Alice Springs and got to the campsite here 4 minutes before reception closed and we had been up since 6:30am. It was a very long day and we ended up driving the last hour in the dark which isn't a good idea with all the kangaroos on the road at that time.
We are leaving Alice today and setting off back to the Gold Coast. It is about a 4 day drive so its going to be a bad few days in the car. There are a few things to see on the way like the town where Crocodile Dundee was filmed so we will be stopping off a few times. We also want to do 1 more sea fishing trip at 1770 because we couldn't go from there on the way up because of rough seas.
Its good to see that England have won the 2nd test and are 1 up in the Ashes. I have been watching most of it and hopefully we will be in our own house or appartment on the Gold Coast soon so I will be watching the final 3 tests.
