Arrived in Cairns is pretty nice our hostel is a but out of the way about a 20 min walk into town but is a nice walk so not to bad. It rained for the first 2 days here so wasn't great! Get to walk along the sea front to our hostel altho the beach isn't a proper beach. Cairns is pretty big. Has a lovely Lagoon which is full of kids atm but they go back to school soon. Is right on the sea front and has a little sand front is really nice.
We Met helen and taylor in Cairns was good to see a familiar face! we just lazed by the lagoon and booked our snorkling trip on the Great Barrier reef. Looking forward to that. We camped with Helen and Taylor luckily didnt rain as they said there was a bit of a hole in it. Camping was fun had a BBQ qhich we've been craving since thailand not right in really hot weather to not have a BBQ. Was nice camping was a good laugh.
We went snorkling on the great barrier reef which was really good. Saw some massive fish and gorgeous coral. i saw 3 reef sharks which was exciting and saw clown fish! Helen got stung by a jelly fish so she couldnt snorkle much wasn't very good. Helen and Lucy got sea sick was quite rough. The great barrier reef is beautiful and the weather was gorgeous which made it better the water was lovely and clear so could see everything.
After cairns we went to Magnetic island which was lovely quite expensive to stay there but was a nice place. a lot of people didnt liek the hostel but our room was good and had nice people in so enjoyed it. Was right on the beach and has a good night life in the hostel coz there was no where else to go. Magnetic island was pretty small but nice to just relax and laze about only stayed there 2 nights then went to townsville. Townsville is nice not much to do but has a man made rockpool coz there are to many jelly fish to swim in the sea so is filtered in. Really nice its got loads of parks down the beach front which is that Stand full of fitness freaks out here! We were in townsville for Anzac day. Which is a big day out here its a big mamorial day which is celebrated by everyone everywhere except pubs are closed until at least 1! people were out from abut 7 am in the pubs then a massive street parade went all round the street was really good to see.
After we went to Sirlie beach we camped here as well with Helen and Taylor, which was good the campsites are really good they all have BBQs. We did our Whitsundays from here we only did a day trip but was lovely. Went to the most beautiful beach called whiteheaven is so pretty crystal clear waters and white sand. The sand squeaks when you walk on it. We did snorkling as well i saw a turtel was sooo excited was so pretty wasn't overly big tho but was still brilliant to see. Really enjoyed whitsundays would love to come back and do the 3 days 2 night trip would be awesome.
We met Ami and Rosie from Thailand in Airlie beach which was good to see them. Eventually crossed paths in Aus which was good. We just sat by the lagoon with them for a few hrs. Airlie is really pretty by the lagoon pretty busy tho.
We have been travelling Aus on the Oz Experience is pretty good a good way to meet people. Met quite a few people on the bus and stayed in hostels with them. On the way down we have been to the oldest Rainforest in Australia which has a beautiful waterfall there was lovely. Also got to play lawn bowls which was so funny was rubbish at it but had fun doing it. Get told a lot of info on the country and all the tales about each city. Loads of aboriginal tales really interesting.
After Airlie we went to Kroombit Cattle station which is just an outback ranch in the middle of no were was freezing. We had dinner and stayed in little dorms. We learnt about the Ranch then got taugh how to Crack the Whip, Went on bucking bull which was funny. Didn't manage to stay on any longer than the first jolt was so funny some people were pretty good at it tho. We played against the North Oz bus but we won, which was funny as the North bus were really competative.
The next day had to be up by 6.30 and realy by 7 was freezing in the morning as well. This morning i did Horse riding which was brilliant. Had a right laugh, had to round up goats and move them across loads of fields. Was really good altho some of the horses were really lazy and was told to kick them to make them move but felt bad so just tapped mine. Was good fun. After that got back on the Oz bus to our next destination, which was Rainbow beach.
The weather in Rainbow beach was awful kept raining and was cold. There was nothing to do in Rainbow beach. The beach was fairly nice but was to cold so we just walked down the beach. walked for ages then turned back and came a different way. Ended up completely the wrong end of were we thought we were so just carried on walking eventually got back to our hostel. Found out we were going on our Fraser island trip on Sunday, which we were glad about otherwise would of had to spend another 2 night in Rainbow beach. Our hostel in Rainbow beach was nice but the staff were so rude. Spoke to everyone like idiots. Rooms were good tho.
We went to Fraser on sunday our group seemed pretty good we with with 3 liverpool girls from our room who we already made friends with and one of there sisters met them with her bf and they joined the group to. Then there were 4 lads that joined. Everyone seems like a good laugh. We had to check our van over and make sure everything worked and packed up made sure everything was secure on top of the 4x4. There were 7 people in our group who could drive. Have to be 21 so i was to young to drive and Lucy didn't want to drive. Our first day on Fraser was sunny and hot. We went to Lake Mckenzie, which was beautiful all the lakes are fresh water lakes, and not allowed to swim in the sea because the current is to strong and the water is meant ot be full of sharks. The lakes are good enough tho but absolutly freezing. Takes ages to get anywhere on the island as there is no room to go anywhere single track which is just thick sand so cant drive fast at all. On our way back from Lake Mckenzie one of the guys crashed our car with another. There wasn't much room to get threw but still tried to get threw and crash into the side of us was a bit s***. Didn't cause to much damage tho. That night set up our tents was a big cold but go so drunk didn't notice the cold. The girls cooked dinner tonight which was stake and Potato was really nice altho most stuff got covered in sand when eating it so was a bit crunchy! We just stayed by our camp played games listened to music and got drunk.
The next morning had to be up at 7 ish was still a bit drunk but managed to pack up all our stuff and head of pretty early went and washed all our dishes and made breakfast. Was raining quite a lot today was pretty chilly. We went to Indian head View point, which had a great view but was so cloudy didn't look as good as it could of. After we went to the Mahino shipwreck which is massive. Was so rusty and falling apart but has been there for a long time so understandable. After that went to Eli Creek, which is meant to drag you down stream bk to the sea but was to cold for us to get in but the lads tried and just ended up walking it. Most the lads in our group apart from one were all posers they loved them selves so much. Always tensed for photos and just loved them selves. Two of them were nice though and quite funny the other 2 were just idiots hardly spoke and when they did just spoke crap. They didn't make any effort or do anything just wanted the girls in the other group, which was quite good coz meant they wasn't with us all the time. Other than that our group was good. One of them drove like a k*** so we all told him to slow down. That night we slept near the Mahino shipwreck we had to get out fo the 4x4 and they lads had to push it up the sand bank coz it was to steep to get the car up. We set camp up staight away got there about 2 coz the tide was coming in so had to get there early. The lads got some massive logs from the woods burried part of them in the ground then put the wind shield over the top made a rain cover was pretty good altho had a fair few holes in. Was funny tho, when it rained most of us just went in the 4x4. Tonight we played a mini game of rounders. Dave dug a massive hole and lola fell down it was so funny was walking backwards and fell straight in. Laugh so much she bashed her head a little but was ok. Was so funny coz Laura had fell down it once already. After Lola fully fell it we covered it over. Rained loads to night and was freezing. Everyone I hung out with in our group went to bed by 8 was crap so i started talking to all the other groups. Wasn't drinking that night though was far to drunk the night before. Was a lot of groups at our campsite most of them were ok.
The next day when to Lake Wobby which we had to park and walk to as was in the middle of the woods. Was nice but by the time we got there only had 30 mins there but was pretty was fairly chilly aswell. After lake Wobby we had to get the ferry back. We tookthe van back had to tidy it and got charged $45 each for the damage which wasn't to bad.
When we got back we stayed in Rainbow beach one more night we just stayed in with the Liverpool girls coz we were tired and the weather was crap and pizza and lazed about.
After Rainbow beach we went to Noosa. We were slightly out of the main town but was quite nice coz there were little shops and the main super market near us. On our first day just spent it with the liverpool girls walking around got some food and just sorted our buses for our next journey. Didn't do anything else really. Next day we went for a walk around the National Park that was nice saw 2 wild Koalas and a pythan wrapped around a tree was pretty good. We saw loads of surfers and the beach was pretty nice. The weather birghtened up a bit more. After we got dinner lazed about sorted our stuff to move onto our next destination which was Mooloolaba. Noosa is pretty expensive full of rich holiday makers.
Mooloolaba was really nice so pretty had a really nice beach and was lovely and hot so got to enjoy that before we could check into our hostel. We hired bikes out and went all down the coast that was good saw surfers and Parasurfers if thats what you call them. After we went back to our hostel which is really nice. A lot of people staying there have been there for a few months or will be there for a few months, so had a good atmosphere. At night had loads of things to do. We played Goon pong just like Beer pong but leathal with Goon. Was good though. Me and lucy won the first round but then lost, which i was glad about didn't want to drink more shots of Goon. We didn't go out tonight just stayed around the hostel. The next day we went to Australia Zoo, which was awesome. So many cute animals I stroked a Koala and saw loads of shows. The tigers are so cute there keepers get into the pens with them and played with them jumping all over them and fighting with them was so cute. So jealous of there jobs. We spent quite a long time at the Zoo. After came back to the hostel got ready tonight we went to a club which was dead at first but got busier. Full of idiots everyone kept jumping around me think they were on drugs quite crazy. Good time tho. Before we went out some people played Centruion which turned out really messy so many people were sick. Was disgusting so glad didn't play that one.
Next day we left Mooloolaba and came to Brisbane. The weather is much better now still cold at night but has been sunny and hasn't rained since we've been here but is going to get colder down the coast! Not looking forward to that! Brisbane is nice just another big city, shame it wasn't sunny all the time here tho not much free stuff to do if the weather isn't nice! but oh well enjoyed it anyway. Just walked around met Helen and Taylor here as there staying in Brisbane for a while as there looking for work. Our first hostel was horrible could see the floor for clothes there was a cockroach in the Kitchen which cant really help, But in the morning there was a mouse in someones food bad was horrible. The next day we left went to a really nice hostel met a guy from Notts in our room lives in southwell was so strange. Everyone in our room was nice went for a drink with them down stairs and just joined in the pub quiz was funny we lost. The next night we went in the bar but was so dead. Played cards and sat with the people from our room. Was meant to go out with the girls from liverpool but they weren't able to make it. We enjoyed Brisbane not much to do but was ok just wish is was really hot! Today were going to Surfers Paradise! Looking forward to it should be good!
