After yesterday's poor performance the girls had to win to have any chance of progressing in the Gothia World Youth Cup. On the main show pitch in front of a huge crowd they turned on the style with a big performance against a shell shocked Salanger (SWE) team to win 6-0.
Lee and Phil sent the team out with encouragement ringing in their ears and they responded magnificently. After 10 minutes of great approach play and wastefulness in front of goal we finally broke the deadlock through Megan Beel with a typical poachers finish. By this time the girls were wowing the huge crowd with their slick approach play with the crowd sounding their appreciation. Zoe Ness scored an exact replica of the lob she scored yesterday to make it 2-0 followed by a wonderful individual effort from Beth Hepple beating 4 players before despatching from an acute angle.

The fluidity between defence, midfield and attack continued in the second half as the girls threatened the Swedish goal with their impressive goalkeeper in fine form. However she couldn't do anything about the stinging volley from the left foot of Rosie McDonnell which found its way into the far corner. Beth Hepple completed her brace with a neat finish before Zoe Ness did the same with a penalty. Entertaining display from the girls today with the back four providing a great platform for the victory.

Tomorrow we play Blizzard Dynamite from Canada for a place in the knockout stages live on tv. We're on the show pitch (KO 2:40 English time). People from home have already watched the opening ceremony through Viasat's Viaplay Facebook page so it's up and running without any glich's like last year so it's easy to access.
