Hello hello the travel continues..... After landing In Auckland we made our way down the Highway to the Coromandel Peninsula an area of more outstanding natural beauty ! Not so much to do here but the drives and surroundings are enough to keep us occupied !
The Roads are crazy and make for a bit of travel sickness if you're the passenger, hairpin bends, uneven surfaces & mad inclines create a unique experience in a 1.0 Litre 3 cylinder car. 2nd gear is seeing some abuse when going uphill !
Staying in some cool cabin style accomodation here, (similar to the Waltons style we thought) we visited the Cathedral cove & Gemstone bay along one of the walks there but a bit of rain stopped us going on too far. (All this hot weather has turned us soft) The weather now btw is hottest for years not som much sunny & its ultra humid.
Onwards to Rotorua the North Islands Geothermal springs capital & Maori Heritage site.
