We heard that the construction workers were on strike so the Metro was not going to be working for 24 hours and it just so happened to be the day that we needed to leave Athens!Brendon and I started walking to the bus station and on the way caught a taxi because we were running late and we had an hour ride to the airport. Not only was there a strike but there was a black out so all the traffic lights weren't working! It was a little bit of a hectic morning but we made it in perfect timing to the airport. We were in London by 4:00 and again it was raining when we got there. It felt so good to be in London, it was almost like home!We had to take the tube to our hostel and part of the reason I chose the hostel was because it was right by an underground station.I should have known it was too good to be true! The underground station right across the street from our hostel was under construction so we had to get off at the station before and walk! The hostel we stayed in was probably the best one I have stayed in all semester! We checked in at a bar and we even ate breakfast in the bar! Everyone was so friendly and we made friends quickly with the people staying in our room. That night Brendon and I grabbed some fish and chips and headed to The Phantom of the Opera.Brendon didn't like the show that much, but I loved it!

Brendon and I only had one full day in London so we were going to try and squeeze as much as we could into that day.We were planning on going to the London eye with some of the guys in our hostel but they left early so Brendon, Hien, and I went to Buckingham Palace first to watch the changing of the guards.Hien was from Malaysia and had been living in London for 3 months looking for a job.He decided to be our tour guide for the day so we made it around pretty easily. After Buckingham Palace, we walked past Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the London Eye.We spent a couple hours in the British Museum which was really cool because there was so much to look at.We only made it to 4 different exhibits because the place was so huge!Hien took us to Greenwich to see the Queen's house ((she isn't very fond of Buckingham Palace)), the royal observatory, and the Prime Meridian. After that it was time for Brendon and I to leave for our second show-SpamAlot: Monty Python. An Australian guy decided to come along with Brendon and I and he seemed like a really nice guy until half way through the play he tried to hold my hand! What a way to make things awkward for the remaining of the play! After the show we met a couple that had just arrived in London, and were looking for something to do.We took them back to our hostel to hang out in the bar for a while with all the other people we met.
