This weekend Hannah and I made a short, but sweet trip to Swansea, Wales. The university in Swansea was one of the universities I was choosing between to study abroad through because it is actually an Iowa State program. Our friend, Rachel Trampel is currently studying there so we thought it would be fun to stay with her and then explore the country of wales while we were there! We have officially been all over the UK now...pretty exciting! We took a 6 hour train ride on Friday to Swansea and Rachel met us in the city center to take us back to her little village. She lived with 8 other people, most of them British students so it was fun for a change to hang out with a bunch of english kids! We got ready and Rachel's friends came over and we all went to a popular club on campus called Jaks which is where we danced the night away.
The next morning we were planning on playing capture the flag in these castle ruins along the coast but not enough people joined because the weather wasn't very nice. so instead we ended up exploring all around the coast, climbing cliffs and roaming the castle ruins. I'm pretty sure i could have sat and looked out at the ocean all day it was such a pretty view! We headed back to the villages to get something to eat. Rachel treated us to a very delicious Indian meal and afterwards we headed back to her place to take very needed showers. We ended up just hanging out in the villages that night because we were all so tired from the late night and walking around so much.
Hannah and I got up early Sunday morning to catch our train back to Hull. 9 hours later we arrived back in Hull. It was a very long trip but very worth it! I really liked what i got to see of Wales, the beach made it fun and I will be a little jealous come spring time.
