Saturday April 12
Our flight was only an hour long, so we were in Edinburgh by 3:00, and in our hostel by 4:00. We didn't have much time to do anything that day because it was already pretty late so we decided to walk up Cotton Hill. I'm still not sure what it was that we were looking at, but there was an amazing view from the hill. On the way up the hill, Chris and I stopped in an old graveyard, where we spent WAY too much time taking pictures. We had a lot of fun walking around the hill and the city, and we didn't even feel rushed, which made things all that much better! We headed back to our hostel after that and were just going to take a short nap since we wanted to go explore the city at night. It was already 9:30 so we were planning on taking only an hour long nap...apparently Chris and I were really tired because we slept the night through!
Sunday March 13
Sunday morning we started off by taking a 3 hour walking tour of the city. It was the same free tour i had done with hannah my first weekend in Europe. And it still remains my favorite tour I have been! After the walking tour Chris and I explored the castle. I never figure out why but the castle was free that weekend so that was a pleasant surprise! After the castle we hiked up to King Arthur's Seat. There actually is no seat to sit on at the top of the hill, but there was an amazing view of the entire city of Edinburgh. We sat at the top of the hill for a long time until it started pouring down rain! We had a long long walk back to our hostel from the hill so by the time we got back we were beyond soaking. Since it was our last night together, Chris wanted to take me out to a nice restaurant. We actually didn't end up going out at all because it was already late when we got back from the hill, and even later after taking showers and getting ready. We ended up just hanging out in the hostel and talking.
Monday March 14
Chris had to catch a flight back to Dublin at 7:55 so we left our hostel at 6:30 and said our good byes. I went back to the hostel to sleep some more until I had to check out. Poor Chris will not be in Chicago until 7:30 tonight and from there he has a 5 hour drive back to his home. On top of that he has to teach tomorrow morning!
