Mon 13th Nov 2006 - Cambodia Reunion
We wisely chose the 2.30pm VIP bus back to Phnom Penh which meant we had time for a final visit to Coaster's.
Cathryn's moto driver could barely see over her rucksack all the way to the bus station, but we all arrived in one piece. The VIP was another chance for us to catch up on sleep before our night out in Phnom Penh.
We arrived at Happy Guesthouse at Lakeside where Cathryn's friends from Leeds, Caroline and Maxine, were staying. Caroline bought a bottle of whisky which we helped her out with over a game of pool at the hostel. We then got a tuk-tuk to Friends restaurant. There was a minor catastrophe en-route as Cathryn lost her lipgloss out of the tuk-tuk. Upon realising her fellow female passengers reaction to loss of lipgloss, she got the tuk-tuk driver to stop and ran back for it. A local man had already picked it up and was bringing it towards the tuk-tuk, obviously thinking that we'd dropped something important by our reaction.
Friends restaurant was closed so we offered the tuk-tuk driver an extra dollar to take us to the riverside instead. Following a scream from Caroline, we all turned to see another tuk-tuk heading towards us. There was a huge crash followed by a smell of petrol. We abandoned the tuk-tuk and he didn't ask for his extra dollar!
We took sanctuary in an irish bar (half the pub had come out to make sure we were ok) before deciding that we didn't like the look of the menu and a happy herb pizza was needed to calm our nerves!! Following the pizza, Caroline bought some "take-out" before heading on to Heart of Darkness club (as recommended by the Siem Reap boys), which was full of lady-boys and s*** music! The highlight of the club was bumping into Don from Coaster's!
