We headed off on our sailing trip over a week ago now, it had been really amazing weather and we were all really excited about the prospect of going out on a huge sailing boat with a few beers and a lovely deck to sunbath on... However the morning of our trip the heavens opened and we were soaked before we had even left shore...!
When we did get going, we had to help get the sails up, well the boys did we sat on the port side (Only sailing vocabulary i know) and held on for dear life, beer still in hand however! It was really fun, bumpy and fast, we all got soaked by the huge waves, but the sun was now out so no one really minded... well not until the next day when we realised that someone had left the tap on over night and there was not washing water...! Not so nice! So the first day we didn't do too much, sailed around the islands and found a spot to stay for the night. We played some games got to know everyone and then slept on deck under the stars, was a pretty awesome sight!
The next day we were up early and heading over to Whithaven beach, all feeling a little worst for wears we managed to climb aboard the little yellow boat in 2m height waves and get to shore without loosing anyone! To get the the famous beach we had to walk over the hill, and it was well worth it the sand was white and the sea an awesome mixture of blues.... You had to wear a stinger suit if you wanted to go in the water as there were jelly fish and huge Sting rays! After a few hours here we all then made it back to the main boat and headed off to a dive site.
Alex and I were pretty excited about having a free dive, and as we had seen a lot of turtles coming to the surface we were pretty confident we would see some diving. But as per usual I seem to scare all marine life off and we saw not very much at all! The other group however with Jill, Laura and Chris in it saw a turtle that swam right along with them, bloody typical! There is always next time I suppose! That night we headed to an island as the weather was not great we went to Hook Island and had a few drinks, well i didn't I went to sleep on the sun lounger as I was tired from the previous night.
On the final day we went for a long and very fast sail as the wind was really strong, it was really fun up until the time we needed to go into the port, and the guy running the boat got the rope stuck and everyone, well some people started to panic, josh had to cut the rope and then get it back together, while being hit by crashing waves and the boat swaying to and fro! Anyway we eventually made it back and headed straight to the showers! Right running out of time will try and update you asap with Fraser Island, my broken ankle and how Imanaged that and check my spelling which is inedibility awful! So sorry... xxx
