Right well since I last updated you all a lot has happened, I do apologies about my awful spelling in the last blog I was very rushed! So after he Sailing trip we headed south to Fraser island and there we got ourselve ready to take the 4x4 over the next day for 2 nights of camping, drinking and seeing the lakes and all that the island had to offer!
Early in the morning we were all up and ready to get going, we sorted out our jeeps, packing everything on top and everyone in the back. Everyone of us were really excited and couldn't wait to set off... Chris was driving first and he did a very good job, up until we had to get on the ferry at the crossing and we got stuck in the sand, but we made it and were on our way.
Most of the driving is on the beach but we managed to miss the first turning, and the novelty of the jeep and experience had worn off, after an hour and a half of bump, dusty and same old road! Although we were still excited about getting to the first lake, Lake McKensie, which in fairness was really beautiful! We stayed here for a good few hours playing some cricket and ball games and then decided it was time to find our camp site and set ourselves up for the night.
We managed to find a spot near all the facilities and also with the other group, who were also travelling the same route with us. Tents went up, food was put on and the drinking started. Little did I know that after a glass too many I was going to get myself into a little bit of bother. We played some drinking games and everyone was in high spirits, we had been talking to the other group, who were all lovely, and now were all a little bit merry. This was the moment when Alex and I thought it would be fun to wrestle. In fairness to Alex I started it all, but with him having done Judo for 10 years I was at a disadvantage and he managed to kick my ankle and it went crack. I was in a lot of pain and unfortunately the way the trip had been planned I was not going to see a doctor for a good 3 days. After a very uncomfortable sleep we all headed off the india Head, a point on the island where you can walk to to look at sharks and other cool creatures, everyone did this except me, had a good book so not so bad. We visited another lake and then made our way to a new camp site, where the man who owned it made me a crutch out of a plastic tube, was very helpful! hehe
We had a fire and a bit of a party that night and watched the stars until the early hours. On the final day we made our way back tot he port to get the ferry back, I have to say all I was thinking abut was seeing a doctor who could give me some strong pain killers, still the driving on the beach was a lot of fun.
When we made it back i managed to get an appointment with the local doctor who strapped my leg up, and said I would definitely need to go to hospital! I am glad I had not done anything more serious as the closest hospital was over an hours drive. Still can't get used to how far away everything is here!
We have now made or way to Noosa, where we were intending on Kayaking but with being so tired we decided that we would give it a miss and enjoy some shopping and the excellent restaurants! So still here about to head to Brisbane!
