Days 60 to 66 - We arrived before it was light and had a while to wait to catch our boat, luckily a pretty sunrise over the water occupied our time nicely before we walked along a very dodgy wooden pier to the boat. It took three hours to get to Ko Pha Ngan during which time we got to watch So You Think You Can Dance, a Katy Perry video and Dear John all in a very low volume. Once on the island taxis took us to our beach front hotel (Mac Bay Resort) and beach week began. What followed was a week of more rest for Catherine and relaxing in hammocks or on our beautiful beach, the location of the Half Moon Party. Highlights included beach parties (with fire skipping ropes - Olivia declined to participate luckily!), buckets, being taken to a monk's herbal sauna by the hotel owner (where you repeatedly splashed yourself with ice cold water before sitting in a herby smelling hot room), visiting the islands tallest tree, reggae bars, lots of book reading, watching E-News, meals out (featuring pancakes and excellent bruschetta) and meals in (at the hotel of the world's best porridge!). Before we knew it, it was day 66 and we were all packed up and, after a wait by the water front where we looked out at Ko Samui, were back on the boat - you guessed it, watching So You Think You Can Dance, a Katy Perry video and Dear John all in a very low volume!
