Today we set out on foot and in the heat to discover Athens. We headed down what we thought was going to be a shopping area but it wasn't and it was a very dodgy street it smelt and had graffiti every where we got back onto another street and ended up finding some ruins we looked at them for a while before heading to the Acropolis a lovely walk mainly up hill. It was under restoration but was an amazing site to see. We then stopped for lunch and had a delicious greek lunch, the owner was very friend and spoke good English. We had a greek salad, kebab and holoumi ( the lady said why do all Aussies love holoumi, I told here we get it at the greek festival it's every where there) . They also had honey puffs which Brett was happy about and had try and he thinks there more delicious here.
We then headed to Zeus temple (ruins)which you where able to walk around there is only16 columns still standing out of 108, you could see the Acropolis from there so we sat and admired the view for a while.
We then went to the old Olympic stadium which is all made out of marble we did an audio tour here which was pretty good. This stadium was used in the original Olympics years and years ago and they have used this stadium for the last 3 Olympics they had the archery and end of the marathon here in the 2004 Olympics. After the tour it was so hot we sat and had drink before heading to the shops( I wanted a new top but could not find much) then headed home.
