So, as the trip draws to a close, it's time for reflection... well, not quite yet. I'm still not sure how I'm getting to Jo'Burg in time for my flight in six time. s***... six days left!
Last night turned into a bit of a fizzer. Andrew and Simba came 'round, but there was little party action going on. In a town where every day (and night) is Saturday night (well, for the tourists and the Rafting Guides at least), there wasn't much Saturday night fever getting around. With tonight being an actual Saturday, there may be some of the genuine Fever getting around. Saturday Night Fever that is, not Malarial. If there's the Malarial type getting 'round, I'm going back to my tent and going to sleep.
Yesterday:
After seeing a good doctor with expensive "prescriptions", and resting up in a place with pretty good atmosphere, it was time to finally see Victoria Falls up clost and personal yesterday from the Mosi-O-Tunya National Park (Where you get close to the falls on the Zambian side).
What can I say. They're big. There's tonnes of water (actually, it's more like Megalitres per second). Got drenched by the endless rainfall from the mist that the falls create when you're really close, and managed to keep my camera dry enough to keep working.
As well as tonnes of water, there's probably a good one to two tonnes of Baboon getting around the park. J-Lo and Beyonce are the two least common pet names for Baboons, and for good reason. The ugliness of their bums needs to be seen to be believed. They have big teeth also.
Had my second live viewing of Baboon sex - if I get one more complaint about my "speed" I'm lodging and official protest. Any women unsatisfied by their partners brevity should cop a look at two Baboons going for it - they bring a whole new meaning to the word quickie. I had my video camera on, and pointed near them, but still only got the dismount. Now THAT is a quickie.
We checked the falls out from the bridge also. I walked past the Bungee Jump thing knowing that I had a free jump owing to me from last time I was here. But fscked it I was going to use it!
I spent most of the day cruising around with Rick and Stephanie, an American couple who've been working at a mission school in Cameroon for 3 years (?!?WHAT?!?). Nice people. And refreshing to see Missionaries that can talk of things other the God, Jesus and Missions, and spreading the word.
Today:
Yoga, then the second best Cornflakes with Milk and banana's I've ever had (second to yesterday). After 3 months of powdered Milk, I can't tell if I'm drinking real milk or good powdered Milk. Probably cause I don't care any more.
Today has been a low-motivation day. After 3+ hours of internet, researching Mountainbikes I'll never own and Yoga Retreats/Instructors Courses that I can't afford, moving on to eating crap food my body didn't want (chips, sausage that tasted like fried Kabana, meat-loaf burger, coke and coffee), trying on clothes I decided I didn't want (my current wardrobe looks like s***...), Idecided that I should pamper myself. Bought some soap to wash both myself and my clothes (one bar), Shampoo and Conditioner (but they didn't have the Curl Definition Conditioner... had to settle for Damage Repair) and the obligitory block of chocolate (Aero Bar Pepermint... while the chocolate here is OK, I reckon it's made with powdered Milk too...). Then back to the internet to check my bank imbalance and it's time for me to head back to Jolly Boys. Bout time I washed my clothes (2 changes... 1.5 weeks... you do the maths), my hair (2 months, no shampoo or conditioner, and I don't wash my hair with soap... again, you do the maths... and the dreadlock removal), and my soul (sleep, meditate, lay around... who knows... I'm such an exciting, dynamic unit right now).
I've had some nice Yoga sessions the last couple days, so my body is feeling a little more able now. Chiro will definatly be high on my list of people to see when I get back home though...
Now.. the big decision: Do I get involved in the charity soccer game that starts in 1:30 mins, do I hire a Mountainbike and find somewhere to ride hard, or do I rest up for this evening's festivities? Hmmm... choices... I'm supposed to be having an adventure, not a mental melt-down!
OK.. this evenings festivities win out. I can donate to needy kids any day. There's a pig on the spit tonight, and my drinks are being "sorted" ;) Back for pampering (chocolate and hair care... it's tough here in Africa) and rest before eating and partying! May be some brief partying, cause I"m thinking about a 6am bus to Garborne tomorrow (Botswana, on the way to Jo'Burg), which will be a big day (11-13+hrs travelling...) to save $$ on flying to Jo'Burg
