Hi, this isnt really part of the travel, but its important none the less. Im writing this about 14weeks before i depart, but in order to effectively chart my progress i feel that the build up to leaving will be just as interesting. So, ive worked at Oxford Uni with Brian for 3weeks, and he's gone to Japan now and I dont have a job, so there isnt any travel fund at the moment. Things are looking rather bleak... but I know that this is what i should be doing, well not writing this, but taking a gap year. Ive just contacted the CVR (centre for vision research) in Toronto about working there when im in Canada (a year away yet). The guy says it might be possible for me to work there, but they prob wont be able to pay me by the sounds of it. So the plan at the moment is to keep applying for jobs everyday, calling the recruitment agencies, looking on notice boards, doing anything to try and get some money rolling in. Im still waiting on money from the oxford job, and some work i did last saturday at the game fair. But this doesnt help the fact that i'll be £600 short if i dont get a job before i go back to work for Brian for a week and a half. So im trying to make the most of my time off, doing research, doctor's appointments to get my vaccinations done, because hopefully i'll be too busy working later on.
