Hello all, Well I'm in Montreal and yesterday marked day 200 of my trip. Which means that once i get my flight confirmation back from STA to say my flight has been changed, then it will be 70days til im home. But really, the trip ends on monday, when i reach Toronto, my last destination except for afew hours at JFK which dont really count. So it's friday today i believe and i was very convinced it was about 9am, maybe 10am,,, was lying in bed thinking about getting up when i checked my watch to discover it was 2pm... UH OH. So today i'm hoping to still go out and take some daytime photos of old montreal and maybe wander into Chinatown cos it's not very far.
Montreal is really nice and everything is incredibly french, signs, menus, people, the letters on the tap (F and C) keep catching me out. i think i might see if i can find some croissants for 'breakfast' but there is quite a lack of deli's or bakeries or anything like that around here. Also, they dont seem to have many ATM machines, just those stand-alone ones which cost the earth.
So i guess once i get to toronto there will still be some sights to see, that horrid CN tower that im going to force myself to go up just so i can say i did. and probably take a trip to Niagra falls too, because thats the done thing. but mostly im looking forward to having back the laptop, some more reading, and appreciating the weekends for what they are rather than just another two of the dull 7 days of the week.Plans for getting home are rapidly developing so it will be nice to have a fixed date that i can plan from.
Ive begun reflecting on my trip now, i guess in preparation for all those 'what was it like? what was the best part? ' questions when i get home, because coming up with an answer off the top of my head is not easy because its all just a big mish mash, its like when youve been reading and revisinng all day for an exam, and you have to take the time out where you organise your thoughts into some coherant order so that you are able to answer an exam and not just have some random facts. But i think ive got some pretty gooood metaphors lined up for travelling, but im still working on them and i wont ruin the joy of explaining them to you in person.
So ill try and put some pictures up when i get to toronto, as it's just a communal laptop here and i cant hog it, like im doing now.
