Today we headed out to look around the canals of Venice and try our hardest not to get lost! For those that haven't been lucky enough to make it here, the 'streets' are more like alleyways and all look the same. And to make it even more interesting, the map we were given was such a large scale that it only has about 1/4 of the street names!
So we set out to the train station initially to sort out tickets for our next leg, before catching the vaporetto (water bus) to Saint Mark's Square. Here we found a nice place to sit for lunch and watch the world go by for a while. Then it was off to look around St Mark's Square Square and Cathedral.
Photos complete and another coffee downed we started toward the Rialto Bridge and to find a gondola to take a ride in. After all, you don't come all the way to Venice on a honeymoon and not take a ride in a gondola!
After meandering through the alleyways, navigating by sheer luck more than skill, we found our way back to the hotel. More pasta and vino overlooking one of the canals for dinner before retiring to our room to rest two sets of weary legs.
