Hi again :)
It is Wednesday here and we are winding down our first week of classes! My classes haven't been too bad so far. The first week of class is always the easiest because they normally summarize what the class will pertain and then let you leave early. The classes I am taking are Fashion Marketing, Fashion Product Development (it is the closest class to a design class for the merchandisers), Elementary Italian II, Italian Fashion and Culture, and Fashion Study Tour. Our study tour class is comprised of several group trips we take throughout the semester. Some of these places include London, Paris and Milan. I will keep you updated on those trips as they get closer! My Italian Fashion and Culture class is a class where we do a lot of touring and observing around Florence. It is similar to Study Tour but on a smaller scale. We also study some of the big Italian designers (think Armani, Gucci, Ferragamo..).
Unexpectedly, I decided at the beginning of this week to add another class to my schedule. The class is called international business. I thought it would be beneficial to have more of an understanding of the business world and it also counts as a credit towards graduation. This is the only class that I am in that isn't with fashion students. In fact, I'm the ONLY fashion student in it! On the first day of class, we went around the room and had to say our major, previous job experience and goals in life. While everyone else around me stated majors like Finance, Architecture, and biology and goals like being a stock trader, and investment banker, and building skyscrapers... I proceeded to explain that I was a fashion major and I did some styling in NYC and thought it would be fun to do that after graduation. Needless to say the other students don't take the fashion students very seriously. Hahaha. It probably didn't help much either that I was using a notebook with the cast of High School Musical on the front to take my class notes in! :) I didn't really mind though, I guess I am a great way to add some diversity (and heaven forbid, excitement!) to the class. Not to mention it's the ONLY class I have that has students of the opposite sex in it with me. That's a nice change too!
Aside from class this week, myself and several other girls have planned our first weekend adventure! Thursday afternoon I am leaving with three other girls that I live with to take a train to Naples (no, not my favorite place in Florida! The one in Italy.) We will be spending the night there Thursday night and will dedicate part of our day on Friday to seeing the city of Pompeii and seeing Mt. Vesuvius. Mt. Vesuvius is the Volcano that killed a bunch of people in 1944. Do me a favor and say a little prayer it doesn't decide to erupt while we're touring it! :) Later on Friday, we will be taking a ferry boat over to the island of Capri. We will be staying in Capri Friday night and Saturday night and then returning home on Sunday. Capri is supposed to be very beautiful and we will be visiting the Blue Grotto, which is supposed to be unbelievably beautiful.
That is all for now! More than likely I will not have a new post until after we return from our weekend trip! I'll be sure to post a message as soon as I get a chance and upload plenty of new pictures! Miss you all so much! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA! Sorry I wasn't physically at your little party at my house to celebrate! Love you all :)
Ciao for Now!
