Caroline's World Tour
This time we're in Paranagua, a little seaside town in Parana state and the supposed final destination of Latin America's most remarkable train journey. Unfortunately, the train actually dropped us off in the godforsaken hole of Morretes, and we had to get yet another bus to get to Paranaguá. But we made it, and the train ride was enjoyable, if a little repetitive and not really that different to the views of forests and hills that we've seen on our various bus journeys! But still, it was a bit different, and a definite tick in the box. Plus we weren't really that sad to leave Curitiba, as there wasn't a great deal to do and we seemed to be attracting the wrong kind of attention - strange middle aged Brazilians basically! They took a bit of a shine to us last night and decided to sit down and chat - we took the opportunity when one disappeared off into the bar to get a pen to write down our numbers so we could "ligar" (and for those of you who don't speak Spanish, no, we did NOT want to see them again!) and legged it!
Apart from being a delightful little town, Paranagua doesn't really have that much to offer, so we've decided on an early boat to Ilha do Mel, an hour and a half away and described by the train's tour guide (who was probably very good but sadly only spoke Portuguese!) as paradise, so we thought we'd check it out!
