We arrived in Kampong Cham and were wondering what we would do for the after, as there didn't appear to be much, luckily our leader had something planned. After lunch we chilled out for a bit, before I headed out at 3 for our bike ride (Pete's foot still being bad). It was so hot cycling the sweat was pouring off me, but we got to see some traditional weaving before making our way across the bamboo bridge to the island.
As you can see from the pictures it literally is a bamboo bridge with no sides, it was hard cycling across it, especially with bits of bamboo sticking up. At some points you could see the water through it, worrying seeing as cars were going across. We all made it to the island and headed into the village, cycling along palm tree lined roads, with houses on stilts either side and gorgeous children running out to say hello to us. It was great cycling along, taking photos and trying to keep balanced. We were shown the local school and temple, it was such a beautiful and tranquil village. It was time to head back and cross the bamboo bridge again, by now the dust was all stuck to my legs and feet and I looked so brown, perhaps I wouldn't wash it off, as I probably won't be able to get a tan as good as that again.
That night we had a real treat and went to a local's house for dinner. The owner and some of his colleagues picked us up in tuk tuks and drive us to his house, where his two youngest sons waited outside with torches to guide us to their house. We ate on the floor a delicious meal of, deep fried mushrooms, pork noodles, coconut chicken curry, fish in ginger sauce and rice of course, it was a delicious meal one of the best so far in Cambodia, it was even better because the family was there eating with us as well.
