After waking up in London and eating another delicious breakfast, we drove north to the Northumberland area to Chillingham Castle (400km). Chillingham castle was built in the 1100s, and was originally a monastery, but was owned by the Grey family from the 15th century, until the 1980s. Happy Canada Day!! The Hotel had a wonderful free breakfast, so we filled our tummies as much as we could. We walked to the store to get some transit passes, got on a double decker and checked out the sights on the way to our first stop near The Tower of London. We made a detour near St. Bartholomews Hospital to see the site of William Wallace's execution. There is only a small plaque on the wall of the hospital to mark the site. We landed in Paris, CDG at 11:20 AM. First task is to pick our rental car up. They didn't have the car that we had prepaid for, so we got a free upgrade to a slightly larger car with navigation included. Got on the A1 motorway for the short drive (280 KM) to the English channel crossing at Calais. We found out very, very quickly that navigation was a MUST! Thank you!
