Right today (now I am actually up to date) we left Jing HOng for a 3-5 hour coach journey to the Laos border -got the visa sorted and went through a village to a quaint guest house - where we are staying for the night (before our 9 hour coach ride tomorrow LONGTING!)...
It is so lovely here the drive here was through green mountains...think box hill for 4 hours but each hill bigger than the nxt and covered in greenary - the scenery - wow I tried to capture it on my camera but I dont think some pictures you can really capture (so the essence which made us say WOW probably wont be catured by mr. kodak shame!) lol... but its beautilful here ... the afternoon was spent eaten Western food (at last) and cycling through villages to see a waterfall and forest ... see above the picture there were LOADS of these en route and as I take my pictures with my 9 mega pixel camera, checking my mobile and chnaging tunes on my ipod...I couldnt help feel like I stepped back in time to a community without technology - random!
Another thing I am learning with this travelling is that is it all about the journey as well as the places you go... what you see on the way to places... the ride the fun and the travel is all part of it and that is how you have to view things when your out and about... I was thinking on holiday you usually have the day to acclimatise to your surroundings and then the next day you chill then get more ambitious with exploring... when travelling you are reading up on places and villages en route as you have 15 mins to freshen up dump your bags and straight away get on it with the exploring and sight seeing... when your not in places for more than 1,2,3 days you need to fit everything in and see as much as possible... its hard to take some things in as some towns feel like a blur and other sights havent sunk in yet... I am definitely looking forward to a bit more of a slower place as we are spending a week in Laos and there is so much fun to be had :) ...plus whoop whoop I can now access FACEBOOK happy days!
