Today we had a late start as the weather is so hot during the days and the days go until 9pm anyway so everything is still open. We first went to the glass blowing island Venice. We watched a demonstration of glass blowing there for €3. It was very interesting to watch and amazing to see the things they made from a blob of hot glass. They first made a jug with a handle and then a horse. At the end of the show one guy blew a bubble with the glass he kept blowing it bigger and bigger until it popped and shattered all over the ground. The island was run down and deserted, it looked like a ghost town. Next we went to the lace island. There were lots of things made from lace: clothes, umbrellas, fans, toilet roll holders, bread roll holders, perfume bottles and the list goes on. On this island all of the houses were bright colours, this was nice to see and they were all very well looked after but again the island was deserted except for the tourists passing through. We caught a ferry to and from these islands, so it was a good chance to see alot of Venice without paying €120 for a 50 minute gondola ride. We got dinner on the way home at about 8pm and talked over dinner for a couple of hours then went home and chilled for the night. There is not much to do in Venice so it is nice just to relax after having two big days of walking in the heat. The photo is of the ring I bought at the glass blowing island.
