Sydney to London

Time to go back to the UK to collect our little motorhome and this time spend an uninterrupted 5 months travelling around. This year we have planned two major destinations - Morocco first for a month and then up to Iceland for a month also. After Iceland we plan to see as much of the rest of Scandinavia as we can in the remaining time we have before heading home again.

We had thought that we would keep the van for two years but the way we are going there is most likely to be at least one more year after this!

The trip over was with Etihad, a new one for us. It was OK but nothing to write home about for comfort, amenity or food. We probably won't bother with them again apart from our return trip.

A change of planes on Abu Dhabi made it a long flight and the nearly one and a half hours waiting in the queue in immigration in Heathrow didn't improve things any.

But ever onward… we collected the hire car and tried desperately to stay awake on the drive north to West Yorkshire. We have a few days here before we can head off: we need to pay the tax on the van (the equivalent of reregistration at home) and to renew the insurance. Both things are not necessarily going to be easy as we are not residents and conversations with the insurance company on the phone have not been particularly encouraging.
