Val Aspden Hi. Sue I have really enjoyed reading your blog. We did this tour with Ray in2009 and visited most of the places as you did. Our trip was the first of the discovery tours and there are a couple of places, the Ksah Boudnib and the cave at Imi-n-Ilfri that we didn't see. A very good reason for doing our fifth tour with Desert Detours!!. I think you are so right when you say that you visit places and have experiences you'd never have if you were doing it solo. now I have worked out how to use your log I'll continue with your tour and look at the photos. We are on our narrow boat at the moment, having a day off Beth the rain. As it happens Dave is just editing our DVD of the discovery trip on the ApplemMacbook we've justv treated ourselves to. Suzanne and Barry Hi Sue and Russ, Your Moroccan blog has brought back so many memories of our trip there in 1976. Back then there were no firms offering tours and we relied on one guidebook written in German. The blog has been an enjoyable read. We are amazed to think that the children are still begging for stylos and bonbons. Rock throwing by disgruntled children also happened when we were there. The 5am singing of the women (in regional dress of long black and white striped skirts) as they trudged through Todra Gorge carrying huge loads of kindling on their bent backs is an enduring memory. We imagine you now have an inkling of what it was like for us to travel alone in the country, out into the desert and off road on many occasions. You have made it to many of the places we visited and we hope you are now enjoying - not to be missed -Meknes, Volubilis and Moulay Idriss as we send this message. I have been trying to buy tickets tio the new musical about which you told me, THE HERNIA, but it seems to be sold out! Things here are much the same but Christina is a nice addition as she tears her hair out when dealing with Joe. I am still tryiong to buy a dress for Emily's wedding...I should have borrowed yours. Geraldine And this is high summer. It sounds identical to our experience in the Ring of Kerry in November (late autumn). I suspect the reason Ireland's greatest export is people lies less with potato famines and economic woes than with the fact that they are all washed out of the place by the rain!
