Either time is going quicker or I am getting slack at writing this blog. The periods between seem to be getting longer. Admittedly we do seem to have been kept busy and have been working to a plan these last few months.
Since our last entry we have completed another successful Housesit in Elanora near the Gold Coast, for a lovely family and a funny little pugalier called Gracie. We spent Easter there and caught up with family and friends. Jo, Phil and Olivia also came up the coast so we could spend time with them as well, which was an added bonus.
After the Housesit we returned to Boyd's Bay caravan park where Harry and Yasmin stayed with us for a few days. We always have a good time with these two. They are great kids and we enjoy their company.
When we took them back to Tewantin we stayed a week before heading over to Phuket for two weeks. We had decided to take the plunge and go have major dental work done there. My brother Simon was going for his second trip and after much discussion and deliberation, we decided to join him. I especially, really needed a lot of work done but Chris is having work done as well.
The dental clinics in Phuket are first class and about a third of the price compared to Australia. The dental clinic we are using is called AB Dental at Patong.
The whole Phuket trip was an experience, an assault on the senses but after a couple of days we were getting the feel of the place. Bangla road was an eye opener for me and I needed some explanations on certain things!! We really enjoyed the massages and the food and spent a good few hours down at the Sol Mia sunset bar, watching the beautiful sunsets over the ocean. Now with our successful first trip behind us, we have booked our second trip, flying from Darwin on 18th October.
When we got back from Phuket this time, Simon and Kerry had a trip to Melbourne organised so we stayed and looked after the kids for them before we headed off on our travels.
This last year has been more about family, doing the loop between Gunnadah/Coolah and the Gold/Sunshine Coast. We've loved seeing and spending time with family, and appreciated every moment of it.
Now we are on the road again!!!
It seems ages since we were just travelling in our little home on wheels, enjoying the adventure and meeting great people.
We have just spent four nights at a free camp beside the Calliope river before heading into Rockhampton to replace the batteries in the caravan. Now nearly four years old, they were not holding their charge overnight and $720 dollars later, the deed had to be done!
Next on to Duaringa and another free camp, with hot showers as well this time. We spent last night beside the botanical gardens at Emerald and enjoying a good happy hour with fellow travellers and tonight we are staying at Jericho beside the river. This is our second visit to this camp and again, we are not disappointed. Next stop, Longreach. We are heading up to Darwin for the winter and hot weather. We're looking forward to our return visit, meeting up with old friends and meeting new ones at Tumbling Waters Caravan Park at Berry Springs.
My brother John and Vicki are working up near Darwin at Howard Springs so we will be meeting up with them. We haven't seen them since they left on the start of their own adventure over a year ago so we'll have a lot of catching up to do.
Let the good times roll!
