We have just spent a few days in Rockhampton, checking out the area and catching up on shopping, maintenance etc.
Yesterday we went to a cattle sale, something we just had to do in the beef capitol of Australia. It was only a small sale but by the size of the cattle yards there are some major sales held there at times. With reluctance, we came away without buying one of the small calves on sale.
After the sale we took a walk around the botanical gardens which hosts it's own zoo, basic though it is, it made an enjoyable afternoon.
Today, we drove up to the top of mount Fraser, where we could see all across Rockhampton and all the way to Yappoon. We walked the tracks and sat eating lunch while watching the kookaburra playing.
Now it's on the road again, still heading up the coast to the next major city of Mackay. We will be stopping on route, making good use of free camps and taking in the sights and places of interest.
