We took a day trip to UDong with one of our fellow volunteers Stacy. She is an extremely energetic and fun loving young woman. Great company. UDong ( means Victorious) served as the capital of Cambodia between 1618 and 1866. King Norodom was crowned there. UDong is 37 kilometers from Phnom Penh, but it took us about 2 hours to get there. Travel and more travel. Someone got sick on our flight out of DC and we had to make an emergency landing in Vancouver. We sat on the ground for 7 hours, changed crews, extended our travel time to Seoul from 14 1/2 hours to 19 hours plus layover time. Needless to say, we missed our flight to Phnom Penh.
