A great day yesterday, the photos tell the story - off sleeper and snacks in station lounge. Then tube and train to Twickenham. The hotel seems exactly the same as the one we stayed in when we went to Wembley a few weeks ago. Dad said it is the same chain so they have similar room furniture. This one is less walking though!
We went to Tesco near the stadium to eat in cafe but menu did not have stuff for me so we bought lots of fruit and snacks and stuff. I picked cheese straws and some nice fruit juice. Dad got strawberries, bananas, grapes and apples to make sure I did not fill up on sweets! I said no to most sandwiches, he says I am too fussy and got me tuna sandwich as the plainest option offered. He said this was better than all the fast food in stadium. Even the hotel food on match day did not look good for me - peri peri sandwiches or ones with pickles in. Yuck!
The game was fantastic, New Zealand v South Africa, could not get much bigger than that and a Rugby World Cup Semi Final. I was not worried about the crowds, but I was nervous twice. Going in, we had to up to the top deck of the stands and the stairs are on outside of the stadium so you look down a long way - scary! Then the match was so close at the end I could not watch!
We went into the hotel bar after the game and lots of people talked to us. A nice couple from America who got me sweets and took our photo. Then an Irish guy who chatted to dad for ages re rugby friendships. The guy high fived me, he had hoped to watch Ireland tomorrow but they got beat last week so its Argentina instead.
We went back to the room and I watched football, played on iPad and went asleep early. . . It was a busy day!
