Last time I updated my blog page, I promised the next entry would not take so long, that was clearly a lie so apologies. I would've given up on this a long time ago if it wasn't for you mother!
Not quite sure where to start with Argentina, was both mine and Jamie's highlight of the trip so far. Its a beautiful city with amazing nightlife and quality people, couldn't ask for much more. Apart from my locker got broken into and I had everything stolen, would've been better without that little incident.
We had heard about a hostel in Buenos Aires that was supposed ot be really good called the Milhouse. So we booked a taxi there from the airport and had a big argument with the taxi driver who was trying to rip us off.........great start!
The real big party we went to was on Paddy's Day in the centre of BA. Despite the fact that there wasn't a single Irish person there it was absolutely crazy, full of drunken Argentinian's lokking for any excuse to party. Thousands turned up all crammed into one street where a samba band were playing, was a very good night and a great way to celebrate my Irish heritage!
Me and Jamie both took a bus up to Iguazu Falls which is a group of water falls bordering Argentina and Brazil. We managed to go and see both sides, the Argentinian side you got a much closer look at the falls and the Brazilian side was more an overvue of it all. Both were amazing!
Agrentinian steak has a really good reputation and it certainly didn't disappoint. I had possibly the nicest meal of my life when I went down to Bariloche in the south of Argentina, never tasted meat quite like it. It took me 24 hours to get to Bariloche from BA on the bus and to make things worse I was alone. We had met a group of friends in the hosMilhouse and everybody, including Jamie, had decided to go to Uruguay for a few days, but I wasn't so keen so went south instead. It was very different from BA and a lot quiter. Would've/should've been a good place for a detox but didn't really work out like that!
After all the problems I had replacing my passport, plane tickets, bank cards etc it turned out I wasn't able to get on the flight with Jamie to New Zealand as planned. So he went and I had to stay in BA with a coulple of friends I had met. I had to follow one of them everywhere he went as all my money that my sisters had sorted out fopr me (thanks girls!) had lent me had been put into his bank!
So next stop was Mendoza. We stayed there for about 5 days and met up with a few people we had met previously. Mendoza was nice but we didn't really do that much as we has a good group so a lot of the time we were staying around the hostel having bbq's and drinking. Watched a lot of the football as well, Chelsea 4-4 Liverpool, whilst we were there, great match!
Cordoba next, not much to say about that place, a student town and half decent nightlife but not much else there. Wouldn't visit Cordoba again.
Next stop is Bolivia!
