OMG!
Wow.
Wow!
WOW!!!!
What an amazing place!
Up at 6.30am...bus...8am.
Onto Edinburgh.
I am sitting on the bus thinking, 'Why are we going to Edinburgh? Haven't seen Glasgow yet.'
Now I know.
Not sure what is in Glasgow...but it would be no match for Edinburgh!
I don't think many places would be.
But back to the beginning..
Travelling the motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh....
And this is where I, once again, become ' the man on the ground' for Eastlink.
Pay attention, Katrina....( You may like to take notes. )
As advised previously, they have Toll Roads over here...and I am doing ALOT of research to advance the Eastlink cause.
( Still waiting on word about my 'living away from home' allowance though Katrina....I realise that Dennis is busy...but time is of the essence here.)
Anyway, my big report for the day is green sheep.
Yep, green sheep.
( Well, technically, they don't have to be green...any colour will do...)
Driving along the motorway, looking out the window, not hurting anyone....and I see green sheep.
Hang on. Were those sheep green?
Yep.
Apparently, the farmer with the land adjacent to the road decided that he could liven up the driving experience of all those Glaswegians doing the daily grind to and from work...
So he painted his sheep.
Changes the colours regularly...
Today, they happened to be green.
I think the paint washes off.
( Either that, or there is a huge call for green jumpers. )
The commuters love it.
So I figure we just have to throw in a few coloured sheep on the walking tracks and people would love us.
Much cheaper than the artwork....and we can cash in when shearing time comes around.
Let me know what you think.
I have an uncle who knows sheep....and a cousin in the paint business.
Past the sheep.
Driving tour of Edinburgh.
Wow!
What a fantastic place.
Look at that castle.
Look at those old buildings.
Look at the view from Queen's Park.
Wow!
Loved Edinburgh.
Had the day here.
These tours are very quick so you only really get a taste.
Nothing at all in Glasgow except to sleep....so couldn't chase up the bacon roll, Andrew.
But tour of Edinburgh on the bus for 1 and 1/2 hours then 4 hours to explore.
Walked up to the Castle.
They were still packing up after the Tattoo.
Hey, that courtyard slopes downhill.
Never realised that from TV.
Didn't tour the Castle. Would have loved to but I really have to pick and chose what time allows.
And I have a Tour of Cardiff Castle later so decided that would have to do.
Ate my stolen breakfast/lunch at the wall of the Castle gazing down the courtyard where the Tattoo is held.
Toured St Giles Cathedral...absolutely magnificent.
Loved the ceiling, the stained glass...all of it.
Did the Childhood Toy Museum...could have stayed there...fantastic.
Wandered the parks...gazed up at the Castle and buildings and monuments.
Loved it.
Did not want to leave.
I am coming back here.
Tony, I remember looking up where you lived when you were over here and just being amazed at the scenery and the countryside. No wonder you loved it.
Then on the bus to the Falkirk Wheel.
Cannot explain it...look it up.
This wheel has replaced locks in this area.
Simply brilliant.
Back to the hotel...and dinner.
Lovely night.
Three days into this tour...the memory of Calvin is fading... and this tour director, Darren is a lot of fun.
The people on the tour are great. Have a laugh with so many of them.
Really, really enjoying it.
Phyll...hope the dogs have settled in OK back at the Folly.
At least the weather seems to be getting warmer and warmer for you.
Emily, hope you are enjoying having your mates back in the house.
You'll have a lot to catch up on!
Overcast for part of the day in Edinburgh...made it hard to get the right light for photos.
Ireland tomorrow!

Phyll Hi.......yep, the dogs were very excited to be back.......I let them out the back and they both were running around peeing on every bush they could find.......Dash was walking around inside looking for you for ages, but then he decided all was okay coz I let them sit with me in the folly till I went to bed.You made a really funny comment about our weather.....there is no sunshine, the wind is blowing a gale to the point where the emergency services cant keep up with it and it still feels like winter.......!! As you can tell we are all pretty sick of it by now.......Ted says the power is off in Mirboo today due to the wind, and I'm not very happy because after we spent time on Sunday making sure all the fuchsias were staked and safe from the wind, one has been broken in half with the wind up there today !!!....Grrrr....it took me about 4 years to grow it !!!.....Oh well, ......just have to cop it, I suppose..........I will comment more later when I'm not feeling so hard-done-by......enjoy Ireland, cant wait to read about it.....xxxx
Phyll Ooooops......forgot to comment on Darren.......not too bad on they eye is he ????
