Up at 5.30am.
Mostly packed last night.
Off to the station.
Platform worked out with no problem.
Train 7.17am
Arriving St Margrethren 10.18am
Then catching the 10.47am to Chur.
Arriving 11.48am.
Then from Chur, the 11.58 to St Moritz.
Arriving 13.59pm
I'll let you know how I go.
Magnificent day... Blue skies everywhere.
The ticket inspector asked for my Austrian Train ticket as well, Amanda.
And as he punched all three tickets, he looked at me and said, "Brilliant."
So there you go..."Brilliant."
So I am very relaxed.
Ate my lunch at 8.30am.
( Yes I know, Andrew.
That is a bit normal.
But only if there is a chance to buy more food later.
..... For lunch.)
Not sure how I will go with that.
Better plan better.
Also, there was a lot of onion in that meat roll.
Bit too much for breakfast, I thought.
So I washed it down with a Kit Kat.
( Didn't really work.)
Beautiful scenery through Germany.
Cannot believe how many high crops of corn there is.
There are acres of small garden plots dotted throughout and each has a very small cabin on it.
Try to imagine a caravan park, each cabin has it's own plot for gardening.
A tour guide told us that people buy these small wooden cabins and garden plots so they can garden to their hearts content.
I don't know if they live there permanently or just stay a day or a two at a time.
OK.
Got off at St Margrethen.
On the same platform I had to get on the next train in 30 mins.
Easy.
Went for a little walk.
Small country town.
Bought food ... Well, chips and a Snickers bar.
( Proceed as you intend to continue, I thought.)
I am really missing those rump steaks from Cafe O Jules in Paris, Emily.
( oh.... Paris!)
Have to find somewhere nice to eat in St Moritz.
The young couple across the aisle from me on the last train are from Oregon.
Turns out they are going to St Moritz as well.
And catching the Glacier Express tomorrow.
So I am stalking them now.
I figure, if I keep them in sight, I'll double my chances of getting off at the right station.
Well, that is working a treat.
Got off in Chur.
We all discovered that the train to St Moritz leaves from Platform 10.
On that now and off to St Moritz!
Getting a little bit cloudy now but the scenery is spectacular!
Arrived St Moritz!

M Wow bloomin wow look at that scenary. Some of those shots look like they are out of a bond film. Especially the train into the tunnel pic.You really should have been born in Germany hey with people buying land just to garden it?!Look at you with all these train station changes. How nerve wracking and you are just smashing them out. Go mum.Now look for my cigarettes in St Marits, called St Marits and find out the deal about them for me. 18 yo smoker me is most intrigued.
Greg Scenery is absolutely spectacular. Wish I was there !!
Amanda Hi Carolyn,What a beautiful day for train travel.Well done on all 3 connections, St Margrethen looks like a lovely little town and good place to stock up on the prerequisite snack food for train journeys. Especially when you have eaten your lunch at 8:30am! Thanks for the photo of Lake Constance, I really want to visit here.If you have a chance google "images of Lake Constance Opera". Lake Constance in Austria is home to the spectacular Bregenz Festival held over 4 weeks every year in July/August. This "Opera on the Lake" features some of the most amazing outdoor stages ever built. Have a look online you will be absolutely amazed!Bye for nowAmanda
Andrew Browning How do they do it?
Daryl I think those Bavarians took the brothers Grimm a little too seriously. It looks like they listened to the Fairy Tales and thought "Sounds nice. Let's build it!" Just beautiful.
Daryl p.s. BTW, if you intend to have lunch, as in a meal around midday, then I'm pretty sure the technical term for the roll and Kit Kat at 8.30am is 'Second Breakfast'.
