Over the last few days I:
1. Discovered that unlike Brussels in Amsterdam Uber has Caucasian drivers. Joop was kind enough to drive me to the airport.
2. Boarded the plane and heard the attendant on the PA; "we're looking for the following persons: Abeyolo Oyola, Abiyeali Alyoelo, Abiyalu Oleyalu and..Christopher Clayton. For some reason it sounded very funny! :)
3. Landed in Atlanta at an airport bigger than the city of Warsaw, paradise of free wifi and land replete with defibrillators (not kidding, see photo).
4. Used Uber twice with great results. Once I could even choose my own Spotify playlist to play during the ride. How cool is that??? :)
5. Was rushed over from one gate to another and issued 3 different boarding passes for my connecting flight. Also met a drug sniffing dog which with its diminutive posture and distinctive dachshund appearance looked more like a cartoon character than a serious law enforcement agent :)
6. Had a beef hot dog!!! Gross but undeniably American!
7. Noticed that for some reason Americans speak much more softly at home than abroad. Some so that I actually had a hard time understanding them. Some kind of a new epidemic of shyness?
8. Saw no shopping rush at the surprisingly quiet mall. All presents bought already????
9. Learned that my guide had just gotten injured and quit on me..This will NOT be a boring trip.
10. Discovered that Delta long haul seats in coach are much more cramped than KLM but their bathrooms are bigger. Would it be because it's harder to tell a supersized passenger to pay for double toilet if they're too big to fit in?
