After a full day of traveling, first by bus to Fumicinco Airport in Rome, 1 1/2 hours, and the by plane to Dubai, we arrived at our destination at 11:55pm and were welcomed by 41 degree heat! Yes it was like stepping into an oven! Thankfully everything is airconditioners, even the bus stops along the side of the roads!
We jumped into a taxi and headed for our motel, the Sheriton Dubai Creek, where we were very well looked after. We just wanted a bed with air-conditioning! But we got far more than we imagined. The Sheriton is a luxury motel, catering for the demanding guests. It was opulent to say the least!
Waking at about 9am the following day we set out to find our next biggest need, food! Afterwards we had decided to head to town and jump on the Red bus tour, but when we walked outside Peter said he could not possibly do the trip as it was well into the high 40's, and he said he didn't think he could cope very well doing that, I agreed readily, so we headed to the local shopping centre to look around, air-conditioned of cause!
The taxi fare was 10 UAE Dirhams or about $2.00! It is the biggest shaping centre we have ever seen, but we were told later in the day that we didn't go to then biggest centre in town, that this was small compared to it.
We had not planned to spend any money but it is sooooo cheap! So after UAE 900.00 and loaded down with bags we arrived back at the motel for a snooze, before packing, no repacking our bags again for our final leg of our journey home the next day.
We did have a very romantic (and delicious) diner overlooking the Dubai Creek that night to mark the end of our incredible & amazing pilgrimage/journey.
We woke at 4:30am the next morning to begin our final journey bringing us home.
