We've had a free day today, to just potter around the city, take in the sights or just laze about doing nothing. We chose to take a long walk to the Acropolis (a high point) and explore it and the surroundings. It was an arduous walk up very steep narrow streets but the view was well worth the effort. After a full morning we have headed toward Kavala where we will stay for two days having some free time tomorrow to discover this beautiful place. We have arrived at the Oceans Motel and been given the key to room 701 the top floor with great views of the city and waterfront. We are going for a walk to have a nice hot cuppa and look around. Kalambaka is such a beautiful place! A real village with a friendly, welcome home kind of atmosphere. It is situated under the shadow of great rocky outcrops in the region of Metoria, I think they look like giant meteors but I think they are the legacy of an ancient earthquake.
