Beautiful Dubrovnik!
Dubrovnik is a beautiful place, we arrived by ferry at about 7am and were stunned by how beautiful this place is. High mountains almost reaching down to the sea, with some of the most breathtaking scenery!
We made our way on foot to our apartment, about 20 minutes walk, we should have caught a bus or taxi as the last part was a bit strenuous. But we discovered a beautiful little apartment run by a retired lady called Mira. She was so very helpful, and the room was great, very clean and tidy with a patio in the garden. This was just in front of the Youth hostel, but we never heard any noise at all.
Our apartment was very well located, about half way between the old city and the port, and once we had worked out the buses we never had to walk uphill again!
The old city was great, full of color and life, and many people as well. There were several cruise liners in port, cities all by themselves! So there were crowds of people everywhere we went.
We walked to the old city and in the way saw some of the most breathtaking shorelines we have ever seen.
It is interesting, almost everywhere we have been people have mistaken us for locals. They just start talking to us in their language and are surprised when we rely in english. The people here are friendly but standoffish. But once you engage them they are friendly and helpful.
We have really enjoyed our stay here, and it will be sad to leave.
