Early start for Mick, up showered and shaved and down for breakfast before 7am. We were on the road by 8:30am and after fuel stop continued onto the I80 for our longest distance so far, across Nebraska. We had been told this would be a long and boring drive but found it to be not that bad. However, the weather was a lot colder than predicted and instead of a 22c day we travelled through an ice storm where it was around 1c. Funnily enough we were in short pants and sleeves and when we stopped at North Platte for fuel we froze, the wind was blowing a
gale. I quickly changed into long sleeves and we stopped for pizza to warm us up.
Back on the road it quickly warmed to 7c and dry but extremely windy and you could see the truckers finding it hard to keep their rigs on road. We came across frequent dust storms, many tumble weeds, snow, ice and gale force winds, not boring at all. Checked in to our Holiday Inn motel room in Lincoln around 5pm. We have lost a few hours driving East but know we will pick them up again on our journey back to the West in a few weeks.
