Gas up and ready to go by 9am. Found a Harbour Freight Tool shop and did a bit of browsing. Onto the little town of Le Claire to call in on Mike & Frank of American Pickers fame. Didn't realise that they actually live in Nashville TN, will have to call in there on our way home. They had some great bikes and memorabilia, would loved to have bought the huge Elvis 'Spinout' poster they had, as it had the name of the previous owner of our TBird on it, Joe Pasternak, but at $500 and being so large and old it would be too fragile to get home in one piece. Walked around the quaint little town of Le Claire not for long though as the temp was still only 5c. Made our way over the Mississippi and into Illinois and onto the Ronald Reagan Tollway towards Chicago. Stopped at the Chicago Outlet stores then onto one of the remaining old Route 66 restaurants outside Chicago Del Reah's Chicken Basket. On the freeway towards the city centre of Chicago and probably the worst decision so far this trip. Traffic, tolls and more tolls. Beautiful building but glad to get out of there. Made our way into Indiana before we knew it and then hit Michigan where we are staying tonight. Lost another hour as we moved into another state, arriving 8pm.
