DAY 8: HEADING UPTOWN
Another big day of hitting the pavement in NYC. First up we took a stroll along the High Line, an old above ground rail line that's been revamped into a long stretch of public park.
The line led us towards our next stop, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. Docked at the pier was the massive USS Intrepid Aircraft Carrier, the Nuclear Submarine USS Growler and the Space Shuttle Enterprise.
Going down inside the sub was an experience - seeing the cramped conditions, hearing how the sailors didn't wash for months while on board - sort of like being on a family holiday with no laundry for a week I'm guessing.
From there we headed straight up 46th Street and grabbed some Tapas at this neat little Spanish joint before continuing onto Times Square for the obligatory selfie. Some interesting sights there. I remember seeing Batman and the Joker last time we were here but not Ms Naked Pocahontas. Admittedly it was winter back then.
To round out the day, we visited Rockefeller Plaza. Nic hit the shops downstairs while Josh and I made a return visit to the Top of the Rock observation deck, this time viewing the NYC skyline in daylight. The clear skies made for happy snapping.
After such a big day, we decided to dine in tonight. Need to save some energy for our last full day in NYC tomorrow!
