DAY 1: THE LONG HAUL
Well we finally made it to New Orleans!
The trip here was a long one, pretty much a full day all up being spent on a plane or in an airport, but I'm glad we knocked it over in the one hit. The 13hr Brisbane-LA leg was pretty smooth, though not much sleep was had (thanks mainly to their inbuilt entertainment system in the back of every seat - two thumbs from Josh!). The long queues at immigration made short work of our 2hr layover at LAX, but we made our connecting flight to Dallas with half hour to spare. After another few hours in the metropolis that is Dallas airport, we finally got to our final destination in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
And man have we struck pay dirt - scoring an upgrade from a Bourbon Balcony Loft to the Presidential Suite at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel! The one we've got is located on the corner of the building, so we have our own balcony not only looking up and down Bourbon St, but also down Orleans St to St Louis Cathedral. Plenty of piccies to come!
Not much planned for tomorrow other than maybe a lazy stroll around the Quarter and its surroundings as we recharge the batteries for what lies ahead.
