Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
Finally we have had gloriuos sunshine, and enjoyed relaxing by the water pools along the front at Townsville. On Friday we got the ferry across to Magnetic Island. We hired the standard island transport, a mini moke, which was cool. The island is small and hardly any roads, but we had fun driving about the island anyway. We first stopped at Picnic Bay, a small pretty cove, but the jelly fish stopped us from going in for a swim. We drove onto Alma Bay, this was gorgeous, crystal clear water, with big rock boulders on the edges. It was so awful not to be able to go in for a dip due to all the stinging jelly fish. One person was in for a swim but he was kited out with wet suit, hat and gloves! We spent a few hours at the biggest beach Horsehoe Bay, where there is a stinger net, so you can go for a paddle. I however still was a little wary, and only ran in and out of the water! We had a nice lunch then time to get the ferry back across to Townsville. From here we drove south to airlie beach at the Whitsunday islands. We got here at night, and spent a couple of hours frantically trying to sort a trip for the next day.
