Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
The train trip over from Greymouth yesterday to Christchurch was a little over hyped. Think it was probably because we have seen the best scenery already on our tour of the island so the ride through the alpines was not fantastic. The highlight being the tunnel at 5.5miles one of the longest in the world! We were sat opposite two old dears from wales I reckon they were 75 to 80.
When we got to Christchurch last night there was a Chinese Lantern festival going off to celebrate the Chinese New Year. There were lots of lanterns of all shapes and sizes plus lots of chinese food to be eaten!
Today we have done the touristy ride round on the old tram and then had a wander round some of the old buildings which have been converted into craft shops and cafes. We also climbed the cathedral tower although there wasnt much of a view from the top and it was full of Pigeon Poo!
We have done some amazing things in New Zealand, and had a great time. However we have been a little disappointed overall with the scenery not meeting the hype. Off to Sydney tomorrow.
