Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
So what have we been up to...do we really need to say. We'll give you one guess... Yes thats it Sun Sun Sun.
Oh its a hard life laying back in the sun, then occasionaly stretching those legs and going into the sea to cool off.
Dont worry we have been out and about aswell; On friday the first really clear day we headed to the two main sites. First stop was the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer some 700m+ above Rio. The views were absolutely fantastic. A good job as jill felt a little worse for wear on the journey up the winding road to the top. I thought she might have got used to this travel sickness, unfortunatley not!
Well it was elbows all round as we battled with the other tourists for the perfect photo, I hope you agree we did ok! You could see all around and really appreciate just how big rio is, and i thought there was only beaches in rio!! You could see favelas, more jungle covered green mountains, the sea and any number of bays with golden beaches.
We could also see all the way across rio to Sugar Loaf mountain our next stop.
The ride to the top of sugar loaf was a much more enjoyable cable car ride. There was two cable cars needed to get to the top. The first took you to a smaller rock/hill at the side of Sugar Loaf the second took you all the way to the top.
Once again we were greeted with amazing views across rio. Christ the redeemer was away in the distance towereing over everything. We also had a perfect view of Copacabana beach. We havent made it there yet as we are saving it for new year when we will experience it with 2million others, how mad will that be.
We enjoyed a cool drink on the top admiring the view and just enjoying another once in a lifetime experience. This place is so addictive.
Our driver then took us back along the coast past Copacabana and Ipanema where we move to on thwe 30th ready for the new year celebrations.
Xmas eve was another day relaxing on the beach. We couldnt believe how busy it was there was hardly any room to move. A bit different to our last xmas eve touring the bars of sheffield with Sarah and Nige, then experiencing the delights of Rawmarsh and the Star with Dave and Jill. DOnt worry I still had a few sociable beers and jill carried on enjoying her Diet Coke!!!
