A longer sail today 25 NM still in a F5/6 with quite large waves. We are tied up on the town key outside a micro brewery. It was cool on the water despite bright sunshine. Day 2. On route down our toilet pump failed so we had to visit the chandlers €200 euros later it’s now fixed and our tank can be pumped out, if I was at home I could have replaced the broken bolts and rebuilt it, another job for next winter and we will have a spare. We left the yard this morning with some sadness as many of our friends were still there enjoying fitting out in the sunshine. We knew we were in for a lively sail as F6 winds were blowing outside. We arrived back at the yard safely on Monday. It had taken us 2 days instead of one because of major road works and traffic. The boat was exactly as we left it only covered in dust. We got her out of the shed and washed her down yesterday. We have more work this year having to refit the renovated gearbox and heating system. The first big step on our way home is to cross the big bay called The Hano Bucht. We chose to cross to Christiansø as we have never managed to visit. Today we started in light winds but had to motor sail all the way 43 miles 7.5 hours. The wind got up to 12/13 knots but it was from behind and we just don't make a good speed in that wind and angle. Back to this lovely island but unfortunately in the last 2 years tourism has started to happen, there is a pub, rowing boats to borrow, a sauna, signposts everywhere, rib rides and a harbour master, we were not charged but the signs are up ready so next year for sure. The only good thing about it was the lighthouse was open to climb. We had the most fantastic views from the top. Every year we end up at the top of a scary tower, I thought this year we had got away...
