Since Lübeck we have sailed back to our base on Fehmarn to pick up our passports that we left in the van. We had a good evening with the other expats as quite a few we’re leaving today. Lübeck is 11 miles up the River Trave from the sea and is one of the main Hislanic towns dating back to before 1200. It was once the 2 nd largest city in Germany but others have overtaken it. There are many old buildings, some having to be rebuilt after WW2 when they were damaged by bombing and subsequent fires. We had thunder and lightning in the night but luckily not to close, when your on a sailing yacht in lightning you feel better if there are other yachts close by with taller masts. Cloudy today, first one in 2 weeks. Wind still in the East so down south again. We have gone just past Travemunde down the river Trave and are anchored in a huge inland lake called pötenitzer wiek, we are now in the former East Germany, the River Trave was the Border.
